the races

The guys have gone to the races a couple times this year, hanging out with the rest of Wenatchee's finest, and I have to admit when I went with them on opening night awhile back it was pretty entertaining. Not sure I'll be going on a regular basis, I think I'll leave that to the boys, but maybe I'll try it again when I can go and have a couple of beers to fit in rather than being the big and sober pregnant lady.

Here are some pics from their last outing a couple weekends ago.

This pic cracks me up. Cal doesn't even look like himself - he looks like a 200 lb. man-child. **Nothing like a 2-year old in a beer hat, with a built-in bottle opener. Ian thought it was only appropriate given the outing & venue that Cal borrows his Bud Light hat... Lovely.

The mercury is rising

We'll be doing a lot of this, this summer to beat the heat.
Probably followed by this, cause it sure is tiring...

Gymnastics superstar

Cal's gymnastics class wrapped up this week and they had a special class where family and friends were invited to come cheer the kids on. He LOVES gym so he was stoked to have Gram there to see all his tricks. And it was so special, at the end of class each of the kids were called up individually to a little stage where they were presented with a trophy, certificate and ribbon. It was the sweetest thing I've seen, Cal was/is SO proud of his FIRST trophy (and so am I)!little monkey hi gram! showing off the goods and then playing it cool

Dancing king

Anytime we're in the car, I constantly here, "Mama, watch this. I'm dancing!" or "Mama look, tractor/truck/hot rod is dancing." We were all in the car the other day and Britney came on so Cal started rocking some serious swagger moves.

And here he is dancing for milkshakes today.
Man I love this kid... so full of life!

baby update

Still no baby, but the end is in sight! My OB offered to schedule me for an induction this weekend, but we decided to pass and wait out the next couple of days to see if little man decides to come on his own. I head back in early next week to make sure my blood pressure isn't getting too high, and at that point baby will likely be forced out of his cozy home. I really can't believe I am still pregnant... Things are still "progressing," active labor just isn't starting.

The time has come

...my sweet 2 year old has formed an opinion on everything, down to the clothes he wears. Every morning right after waking up he brings me the shirt he wants to change into, first request is one of his "Go Cougs" shirts, next is his basketball shirt (below), and third choice is his "ABC shirt" (shirt with the #67 on it). Fortunately I'm pretty good at using my negotiation skills (for now) to work other clothes into the line-up (and I plan to order a bunch of graphic t's from Gap to broaden the selection), cause I refuse to have a four shirt rotation. The funny thing about the "Go Cougs" shirts is that he usually goes digging through mine and Ian's drawers then and makes us put on our WSU shirts - gotta love the Cougar spirit!

Yep, still pregnant.

It's amazing how much more patient I am this time around counting down the days until little man gets here, compared to my wait with Cal. I feel like it could really be any day/minute that he decides to make his appearance and am actually a little surprised that he hasn't already - I'll probably be saying the same thing two weeks from now... At my 38 week appt last week I was 3.5 cm dilated so I'm curious to see what my dr. has to say this week.

I had another little anxiety attack today about not having anymore pregnant pics, besides my one 32 week pics, so here it is. Now I have two pics to prove I did in fact carry this child. ;)

Just pics.

Cal teaches his dad how to fish

Cal, Jim, and I went up to Beehive Reservoir today to try our luck at trout fishing. Cal caught two and Jim and I got skunked. Apparently the fish liked having the bait whipped around in all directions cause that was Cal's technique. Here are some photos.

Potty time!

Potty training was at the top of my list of things I wasn't looking forward to as a parent. My goal has always been to never have two kids in diapers at the same time, but I kept putting it off and saying that we'd get to it "next month." Well once the dr. told me that baby could come any day that was just the push I needed to kick potty training into high gear. Well, we did it and we're going on day 2 of being accident free! Go Cal!

looking at himself in his big boy undies never gets old

and here are some of the things we did to keep from going stir crazy around the house during our 3-day confinement.

More video to come.

After seeing a video of Cal's lady friend, Hailey, singing her ABC (so cute!) it reminded me that I need to take a video of Cal doing it. It just melts my heart . So cute in his soft little voice, jumbling letters together and singing. Unfortunately, every time I break out the camera to get a video this is what happens...

(He's obsessed with watching videos and looking at pics {of himself} on the camera.)

He's still got it

Ian played in a 3-on-3 tourney last weekend and Cal & I had a blast being his cheerleaders. Pretty sure Cal idolizes Ian after seeing his daddy's moves on the court (not that he didn't already).

Summer, is that you?

The weather is finally starting to get consistently nicer, so what better thing to do in the afternoon than walk to pick up Logan from school and head to the park for some play and skateboarding fun. Right now Cal's loving all things skateboarding so the minute Luke comes around with his skateboard, Cal's in heaven.

Family Fun Day: Part 2

Ian had a man's camping weekend planned for last weekend that fell through, so rather than watching my hubby mope and be bummed we loaded up the car on Friday and Cal and I went camping with him for a night getaway. I was little apprehensive of how this was going to go considering I am about to pop - and camping with a toddler is a whole-nother story - but we actually had a really fun time and Cal was a camping champ.

Cheers!
these little hooligans even got to come along.

What's wrong with this picture?

1) The fact that Cal uses his toy storage as a climbing gym.
2) His "say cheese" face.
3) He has a {unopened} beer...that's another story.
4) And that he's using his Little People mini-van as a beer cozy (and was SO proud of it).

My little shopping buddy

This is what a full day of shopping & running errands with mom will do to ya...

Taking baby for a little joy ride.

Of course, he insists that baby is "swaddled" everywhere she goes.
