Wednesday

I gave Cal a chocolate chip cookie and he went nutty over it. I caught him licking his arm trying to get the extra chocolate off.

And he's off...

Cal took his first steps tonight on his own! Ian had him on one side of the room and I was on the other and off he went. Took a couple tries and I think we maxed out at about four steps but he did it a bunch of times. No video cause we were too consumed with yelling, clapping, hugs, etc. I think he's got a little ways to go before he's full blown walking but my goal (might be a long shot) is his first b-day.

In other news, we had a fabulous weekend. Cal got to go visit his favorite place on earth (well at least his parents), Pullman. We road tripped it over for a b-ball game (WSU vs. USC) and took Cal on a little campus tour while we were there to familiarize him with we're he'll be living in 18 years. To my surprise the decrepit live-out that I lived in was still standing, barely. But the two houses that Ian lived in after frat-life were torn down. Says something about the living conditions he subjected himself too.

We also swung by Wenatchee for the night to kick it with the fam and celebrate my mom's b-day and my belated b-day.

Passing time in the car with lots of peek-a-boo. Where's Cal?

What we've been up to

What we've been up to: Ian had some tricks up his sleeve on my birthday. I thought the three of us were going out to a family-friendly dinner/kid-friendly restaurant and to my surprise Ian arranged for a sitter (thanks Steph!) and the two of us went out to nice, quiet dinner. An even more pleasant surprise was what Cal and the dogs (w/Ian's help) got me. Anyone that knows me, knows I am crazy about dogs, especially my own. For years I have wanted professional pics of Clyde & Suzie, so Ian made arrangements to have them taken this weekend (along with some pics of Cal)!

What Cal's been up too: He's so curious and points at everytime saying "dat," he learned how to turn the tv on and off and thinks it's hilarious, he's trying really hard to make words - so far "duck" and "dog" are somewhat decipherable(along with ma ma and da da) , Cal's a kissing machine, he's growing like a weed, he goes nutty every time he hears the shower turn on cause he think it means bath time, and much more but that's all I can think of right now.

Pics & a little story

Funny story, we went to Red Robin the other night for dinner and we've been talking about how we'll have to go there for Cal's b-day dinner cause he'll just love the bird and everyone singing/clapping "happy, happy birthday." Well he loved the clapping and singing but was terrified of Red Robin. He saw him and broke in hysteria. Then the whole dinner he kept a watchful eye scanning the restaurant. It just so happened we were sitting in an area full of kids so it turned out to be a pretty scary dinner. When we go back for his birthday, we'll have to request the singing and clapping sans the mascot.

I think it's a phase he's going through cause he usually has no fear but the last couple days everything has been so scary. We were playing with a whoopy cushion and this too caused pure terror for Cal.

Who's calling?

Cal is obsessed with electronics.... phones, laptop, remote controls, and the vacuum. It's as if he has a sensor for things he shouldn't play with and gravitates only to these things. He would give up his toys any day for one of these. He's even taking it so far with the phone that he now puts it up to his ear and talks like he's having a convo with someone on the other end.

Dancing fool

The second Cal hears music he's starts rockin. Every night when I'm working on dinner Cal usually sits with me in the kitchen and plays with bowls but the second I turn on his music he sneaks off and I always know where to find him, dancing on the armoire.

A lesson on sharing

Ian was having a popsicle and Cal wanted some so they shared. Suzie felt left out so Ian gave her a lick.
Then Ian felt bad for Clyde since he was missing out so he got to join in on the fun.

Yes, we dance to a different drum here in the Hunter house. For the record, the popsicle was thrown away after the dogs had their nibbles.

One last dance...

...before the singing x-mas bear gets packed up. It's going to be a lonely 11 months for Cal before he makes his appearance again, and a peaceful 11 months for Ian and I.

Bad blogger

It's been a busy week... We went up and celebrated a belated Christmas with the Hunters/Gibbons, rang in the New Year with the Hintons, and I spent today with the ladies at the wedding show with the lovely bride-to-be, Shannyn. I was so bad at taking pics this week...
