Lake Chelan
My folks were camping up in Chelan a couple of weeks ago so the kids and I drove up and spent several days up there soaking up the sun, swimming, BBQ'ing and taking in summer before it's gone. Probably my favorite thing about not working - being able to take impromptu mid-week trips and not having to ask to take off work!

And I thought we were in the clear...
Not so much, last week we had another little fire scare behind our house. My mom called me in the afternoon and said she heard there was a fire up around our house but didn't know if it was a house fire or a brush fire. I said, well I haven't heard any sirens so it must not be around here but I'll take a look outside. Sure enough, behind our house the fields were on fire.... again. This time it was right up to what had already burned. Starting to panic a bit, I put the kids down for their naps and had my mom come up to help me keep my cool since Ian was at work. Within minutes fire trucks and brush rigs galore were racing up the hill and parked behind our house. An all too familiar feeling. While this fire wasn't nearly as bad as the last one I just kept thinking about how the first fire started out small like this and then it got so big (and this one was starting a lot closer to our house). Fortunately, there was little wind and lots of fire rigs so they got the fire contained and out within an hour or so.
Poor Cal slept through the fire but as soon as he woke up we spent the rest of the afternoon on the balcony watching the remaining fire trucks put out hot spots and bulldozer some of the burned areas.

A couple Cal videos
Cal loves to sing and it always amazes me when he knows all the words in a song. He won't sing for the camera when I try to get a video so I had to sneak this in the car. Next up, I'll try and get his renditions of Bring Home a Baby Bumble Bee, ABCs, Barney & Wheels on the Bus.
Lately Cal's been really into reading to us. It's actually pretty surprising how well he can "read" out of some of his books. Here's a little storytime w/ Cal.

Still alive, just busy.
I've neglected the blog and everyday for the past week I've vowed to update it but nighttime rolls around and my to-do list is harassing me and the couch or my bed is calling my name. Tomorrow is the day... hopefully.

Pics of the little mister
I can't get enough of my littlest guy (making me a bit of a baby hog with my own kid). He's completely stole my heart times 10 and is just the most perfect addition to our family. All he wants is to be loved (and fed) and is as sweet as babies come - thankfully making the transition to a family of 4 fairly easy, for now. It's this little munchkin that's giving us heck now...
so what else are we to do, than lock him outside the sliding glass door... kidding.

Bennett was getting loaded up in his car seat the other day, and I couldn't believe how ginormo he looked. I kinda feel like I get a little jipped in the newborn department cause my kids certainly don't start out small to begin with then they grow like weeds.
a day old
A date with dad.
I've been trying to get out of the house with Cal for some 1:1 time with him, which means Ian gets some quality time with Bennett. What else does a dad and his 6 week old kiddo do.....
