Weekend fun.

We embraced spending a weekend at home (kind of) and filled it with all kinds on FUN stuff.

First up, the fair!
snuggles!
Cal: "Mom, I'm going to ask Santa Clause for this tractor!"
You'll have to stand on your head to look at this pic... No idea why sometimes blogger has a mind of it's own. Anyways, Ian, Cal & my dad socialized with Wenatchee's finest at the race track Saturday night.
Cal was nuts over all the orange race cars (his favorite color)
On Sunday, 7 ladies & myself road-tripped to Spokane to see Fun. And it was fun! Great company, lots of laughs & an awesome concert at The Knitting Factory (love this venue).
Time for another headstand... While I was off working and playing on Sunday Ian, the boys & my dad went up in the hills to play.

Staying busy

The last couple weeks of summer have been a little nuts. Aside from soccer, VBS, playdates, etc., it seems like we've spent the majority of our time driving back and forth over the mountains. We've been visiting friends, family, shopping, you name it.
poor little dude conked out while playing peek-a-boo on the drive over
first stop, happy hour with the ladies (& kids & hubbys)
Next, spending the weekend with Grammie & Pa's and checking out a concert in the park
Dad & Pa's handy work
the little dude then fell asleep reading a book on the way back down to Seattle
before heading home for the weekend, one last stop at Amanda & LT's for a BBQ  (I stole your pic Amanda)
A couple days later the boys and I were back on the road heading over the mountains to drop the car off at the dealership. The boys thought the minivan they gave us while our car was having some work done was just about the coolest thing ever. Me, that's a different story...
while in the city we were able to sneak in a playdate with the O'Connors

Another couple of days later we were back in Seattle to pick up our car (and return the mini, hooray) and this time we hit up the Ballard Locks with the Henry's.
And now we are home to stay, thank heavens.... At least for a couple weeks.

Killing time.

The boys & I had some time to kill this morning while our car was at the auto glass shop, so what better thing to do then walk to the closest park and get the wiggles out.

Summer lovin'

backyard fun
pug tan lines
bike ride
a bike break with a stop at the park
and another stop at the farmer's market
Happy Birthday Avery!

Tastes of the summer

We've been relishing in all the awesome garden goodies that have been passed on to us (and the basil we've been growing, woohoo) and our meals have reflected it (think kale chips, lots of salads, corn on the cob, stuff pictured below, etc). And my meat-loving hubby has even embraced all things green with me.
spaghetti squash with homemade pesto & garden fresh tomatoes, YUM!
The last couple of days have been about all things zucchini, first up chocolate zucchini bread.
fried zucchini cakes
veggie lasagna
and nothing about these are garden fresh, but darn, they were delicious. We've been loving our new Traegar grill and everything we've made on it has been ridiculously good. These nachos were no exception.

Off to the Zoo!

We went the Point Defiance Zoo last week with two of our favorite people (Katie & Eli) and had an awesome time. This was B's first time to a zoo (i think...) and it's been a awhile since we've taken Cal so it was long overdue. And I have to say, I really like this zoo. Between the zoo, the aquarium & the kids' play area, the 3 boys had a blast. Go figure, I forget my camera so here are some pics from our adventure brought to you by my phone.
one of our favorites, the monkeys!
and someone got to ride a camel

and no trip over the mountains would bee complete without a little shopping
hugs
