We used to pride ourselves on having a "fit" pug. Pre-Cal, she was skinny. Post-Cal, she got really fat.
This is what happens about half-way through our walks, I end up having to carry Suz home. Her face says it all.

Jasmine just went to the vet, she's gained a few pounds too. The vet asked what happened and dave said, "She's got a little sister at home that feeds her all day." The vet said that she sees it all the time.
