Little Miss Frumpy

so tired she couldn't make it to the bed...

visiting dad at work

Cal and I went to visit Ian at work today for lunch. We were in Ian's office and Cal sat at the desk and was ready to do some engineering. It was precious. Unfortunately I didn't have my camera so I had to snap a pic on my BlackBerry, so the pic is kinda crummy, but still cute.

getting better

Hallelujah. The antibiotics started working yesterday and Cal is starting to be his chipper self again. He still has a little temp but it's so great to see him happy and playful. And he's back to sleeping through the night. Another Hallelujah.

Ready to eat again

Poor kiddo

Cal has been so miserable feeling and his temp reached 102+ last night so we took him to see the dr. today. Turns out that he has ear infections in both ears which explains the irritability, pain, soaring fever, complete refusal of sleep, etc. He got antibiotics that we're hoping will work miracles soon. The dr. said he should start feeling better within 24 hours of starting them (please lord!).

It's not the taking care of him that's bad, it's the seeing him in so much pain that just breaks my heart. The only good that has come out of this is that all he wants to do is be held and snuggle and I can't get enough of the snuggling.

Ian and I are walking zombies... Over the course of the last two nights I think we've each got a total of no more than 6 hours of sleep, and things don't seem like they'll be looking up tonight.

AND, just when you thought it couldn't get worse - Cal's 2nd bottom tooth is breaking through the gums. AHHHH!

The weekend… not quite as planned

We went to Wenatchee this weekend for Cal’s 6-month pics and unfortunately, Cal got really sick Sunday morning and the pics were a no-go. We tried but he just wasn’t digging it and wasn’t his chipper self so the pics are postponed.

But Saturday we had a great day visiting with the fam and it was a full house at the Smiths since Luke and Logan stayed there too.

Poor Cal is still not feeling well and it’s so hard seeing him so miserable… He perked up a little this afternoon but just isn’t being himself. He has a 101 temp that won’t break. We thought it was a result of his intense teething but the on-call dr. said this a little high for a teething temp, so if it doesn’t break we’re taking him in tomorrow to hopefully figure out what’s going on.

New Friends

First new friend...

Look like someone?

I gave this to Cal today to play with and he went nutty over it - he doesn't normally get like that over stuffed animals. I really think he thinks its Suzie. He was laughing at it, talking to it and cuddling it. Then when I picked him up from daycare fake Suzie was waiting in the car for him and again the second he saw it he went nutty.

Second new friend....

His piggies. He likes his feet but tonight he attempted to eat them. At one point he had both feet in his mouth. Third new friend...

His new daycare buddy. Cal has lots of daycare friends but today I saw the cutest thing when I picked him up, him and another little boy (who's just a couple days older than Cal but has at least 5 pounds on him) were sitting on the floor playing together. No pic :(

Getting so big

1) Cal's already moving out of the infant room at daycare and will soon be a waddler (the transition room before the toddler room).

2) He's outgrown his infant car seat.

3) I can no longer shop in the infant section at Gap Kids. We're now in the toddler section.

Fun times

The kiddo absolutely loves bath time and it doesn't take much to entertain him. The other night I brought in some of his bath toys and he wasn't interested, he's much more interested in the simple things - i.e. his hair rinsing cup. He thinks its fabulous.

Up until yesterday, Cal would hang out in his jumper and do an occasional bounce, but when he was home with dad he got some serious hops in it.

Scratch that...

Forget what I said in the previous post about Cal's teething being painless. I should have knocked on wood cause the night after I wrote that was rough and he hasn't been feeling so hot during the day. His spirits are still high we can just tell that he's in quite a bit of pain. The one tooth is still making its way up and we can now see a little bit of it (you have to look hard) - not just feel it. Hopefully his other bottom tooth follows this one cause it would be a little odd to just have one bottom tooth....

We've got a tooth!

After several months of teething, Cal's first tooth popped through!! On the weekends after he wakes up we usually bring him in our bed to snuggle and play for a bit. We're all laying there and Ian asked if I checked for teeth yet (for the last month I've religiously checked every morning), and low-and-behold a little spike poked my finger. I freaked out. You can't really see it but it's there. Miraculously this tooth coming through didn't seem to bother him and he still managed to sleep through the night (knock on wood cause with more coming in it could get ugly....)

Sun.BBQs.Ikea.Remodel

That pretty much sums up the weekend so far. It’s SO hot here and we’re cooking in our house. When home Cal’s ensemble consists of a diaper and a cold rag on his head.

We went to Ali & Brett’s for a BBQ Friday night. After the BBQ Ian took Cal home and I hit the town with friends. It was my first night out at a bar in over a year, crazy. I’m taking baby steps, I was home by midnight… Saturday I met Jenni, Lars and Lo at Ikea. We did some shopping and had lunch…. at Ikea. Then Ian, Cal and I went to another BBQ for Ian’s co-worker’s b-day Sat.

Ian’s spent every spare minute of the weekend working on the house and is now framing the front. More pics to come.

Let the baby proofing begin...

Cal is getting more and more mobile by the day. Today I had him propped up in his Boppy on his tummy and he managed to flip out the front and escape. Once out, I had a magazine on the floor and he was trying to scoot and reach with all of his mite to get it.

Yay, I'm free!

Half-a-year old!

It’s so crazy that our Cal-bear is 6 months old. It seriously seems like not long ago we were bringing him home from the hospital and were scared to death that we were going to “break” him. This has been the most amazing six months of our lives.

I say this pretty much everyday – Cal is amazing, and everyday I think he’s even more amazing than the last. He's a hoot to be around and not only brings a smile to our faces, he makes strangers' days brighter. He was in his stroller at the dr.'s office today and got a case of the giggles - the whole office thought it was great.

He had his 6 month check-up today. Stats below - basically he's huge...

Weight: 20 lbs. 9 ozs. -- 92%
Height: 29.25 inches -- OFF THE CHARTS!!! The dr. said that he's the lenght of an average 11 month old. Wow.

House update

Ian has been working furiously every night after work until dark on the house. My folks were in town for the weekend so him and dad worked outside all weekend. They got the siding shingles done, put in a vent, and finished the roof shingles. Couple more things to do on the outside – put up some siding, paint the new stuff, put in a window – and then onto the inside.

Deck fun

My folks are in town for the weekend and we all went up north to Ian's parent's house today. They hosted a get-together with friends & family (Amy & kids are in town) to christen the new deck. Again, we didn't take many pics but here are a couple.

Our nephew Emmett and his beer

Gracie & Uncle Ian

Nothing too exciting

I've totally slacked this week/weekend taking pictures... We had a baby get-together with the Hintons and Burdos Fri. night and I only took one pic (and it's bad). Then I forgot my camera on Sat. when Cal and I went to lunch with some friends.

Here's a couple of the few pics from the week.

Nutty about food

this is what he does in between bites...

..
I try not to feed him too fast but he gets "mad" at me if I don't. He's really passionate about food...

getting so big

I was looking through the recent pics on my camera and was in "ah" with these ones - Cal looks so old to me... I know my little man is growing up, but seriously he looks like a little man in these shots. We were playing on the floor tonight after a bath/before bed and he was being kinda goofy.

Something was really funny

more of the same

I can't post without putting up some pics of Cal so here you go, more of him being cute in his highchair.

Glamour shot - I thought it was funny the way the light was hitting him

He's all about the spoon now

No more Bumbo, Cal's figured out how to escape. I watched the whole thing unwind, he rolled out the side.
