4 Months Old!

Guess who has two legs, two arms, a little bit of hair and is four months old today!! Our little boy is growing up. Callahan is getting more fun by the day. Right now he’s fascinated with toys and everything that makes noise. He also loves to “talk” and I think that he truly thinks we’re having a two way conversation. Well, we kind of are but I make words and he makes sounds. He gets this really concerned look on his face and then just starts rambling on.

Ian and I now wake up to him “talking” in the morning too. When he wakes up he turns on his rainforest soother, a must for every crib, (here it is) and will talk to it until we come in and get him (we hear him on the monitor). Then when he sees one of us in his room looking over the crib he lights up with a huge smile. This is how I found him this morning. It’s just precious.

Cal has his four month check-up Friday so we’ll get his stats then and he also has to get his next round of vaccines – not fun. Last time his shots made him not feel so hot so hopefully these ones go a little better.

Cal had his second day of daycare yesterday where he had a much better day than his first day. He supposedly really enjoyed himself and was fascinated watching the other babies.

I'll try to take and post more pics later today.

Just the boys

Today was Ian's day with Callahan while I was at work. Here's a run down of what they did.

Eating

Playing...

Playing... (very intrigued by his toy)

And more playing

Cal also did lots of sleeping but those pics aren't as fun.

Addicted to email

I was going through my work email and saw the emails that we sent out from my BlackBerry on the way to the hospital and from the hospital after Callahan was born. It was so fun to see these but at the same time I realized I have a major email/Blackberry addiction. Callahan was born at 7:06 p.m. and just over an hour after he was born, at 8:20 p.m., I was sending emails from my BlackBerry letting everyone know that he was born…. Not sure this is normal. Also, throughout labor I also sent several emails. I am sure my doctor was thinking this girl is crazy.

Back in the grind

I survived my first week back at part-time work, Ian survived his first full day home with just him and Cal and Cal kinda survived his first day of daycare. The morning after I dropped him off was rough but fortunately I am only a couple minutes away so I sped over there and as soon as he saw me he was happy again. After playing with him and the other babies for an hour he decided that he’d give it another try and had a good afternoon. As for me, as hard as it was to leave Cal after spending 24/7 with him for the past four months it did feel good to have my brain stimulated again. Ian and Cal had a good day home while I was at work. Ian had big plans for all the things he wanted to do but they were stuck inside all day since the weather was so crummy.

This weekend has been pretty low-key. Friday, Cal and I met eight other moms and babies at Chipotle for lunch. Saturday we ran errands and worked out in the garage in preparation for our remodel and right now we’re trying to figure out the plans for today. I finally figured how how to take and upload video of Callahan with our camera but it's taking ages to upload. If I have more patience later I will try and upload again.

More pics to come

We’ll post some pics either later today or this weekend, I promise. I’ve been slacking on the blogging front as it’s been a busy week with me going back to work part-time, getting Cal ready for his first day of daycare and Ian being gone on a business trip earlier in the week. I think this is the first week in Cal’s life that we haven’t taken pics of him everyday :(

Yesterday was a really busy day - Cal went to daycare for the first time and then we went to a BBQ with all of my work friends. We though for sure that when we got home Cal would be passed out for the night but he was in such a good mood and decided to stay up late (8:30 p.m. that is) with us. So he's sleeping in this morning, recovering from all the excitement.

First date night

Last night was our first night out without Cal. Emilie and Brett graciously babysat for us while we went to a wedding and I think Cal really enjoyed himself and his play buddy Charlie.

The wedding was amazing and Butch even made a surprise appearance.

Hi

I’ve been enjoying every last minute with Callahan since it’s my last full week home before going back to work. Fortunetaly, I will be home with him Wednesdays and Fridays (and Ian home on Mondays), as I don’t think I would be able to bear being away from him five days a week.

We did two daycare trial runs this week where we went and visited and I even left Cal for 30 minutes the first day and an hour the second. Although, I’m bummed he has to go to daycare there’s a little part of me that knows it will be good for him to socialize with other babies his age.

In other Cal news, he’s continuing to teeth like crazy, but we have yet to see a tooth pop through. He’s drooling like a mad man and is sticking anything he can get his hands on in his mouth. He’s also getting more and more mobile every day. He’s started to try and “escape” from him swing. And if he's propped sitting up he tries to pull himself up to sit up.

Today we went to dad’s office to have lunch and learned about safety ;)
